Monochromatic Layouts

I love monochromatic layouts at the moment. They really challenge you to use texture rather than colour as the interest on them.
To make this layout I used:
  • Bazzill Cardstock cut to 6x12 inches
  • Basic Grey Patterned Paper
  • Cricut machine - George Cartridge or letter stickers or chipboard
  • Basic Grey Rub ons - stitches
  • Hambly overlay
  • Prima Flowers
  • Dimensional Magic
  • Sanding block
  • Zig Writer
  • White signo pen
  • Heidi Swapp flower jewels
  • Ruler

I used this sketch as my starting point.

To make this layout:

  • First choose a colour scheme and then select patterned paper and cardstock in that colour. Try to avoid patterned paper with too much going on - too many colours or patterns.
  • Staple the Hambly overlay to the photo and the cardstock. Slightly overlap the edge with the photo for interest.
  • Apply your rub on to the bottom of the page and then lightly sand it back.
  • Use your Cricut machine to cut your title out of the patterned paper.
  • Position your title making sure that you have some of the title overlapping the photo and even slightly off the edge.
  • Lightly draw lines on using your Signo pen.
  • Write your journaling using the Zig Writer.
  • Lightly sand the title edges to give some definition to the page. Move the sanding block sideways over the edge until the white core shows.
  • Scatter an odd number of Prima flowers in three places on the layout. Attach using Dimensional Magic.
  • Apply three HS flowers to one type of Prima flower.
  • Add Dimensional Magic circles to part of your title.
  • Stand back and admire your work *smile*
